Active Shooter Preparedness and Response

The college has active shooter response protocols in place. If an active shooter is reported, individuals should lock themselves in rooms, barricade doors, silence electronic devices, and avoid hallways. Do not activate fire alarms. Emergency instructions will be provided via Camp Alert and other official channels. Always follow law enforcement and campus security instructions.

General Emergency Notification Procedures Active

Paul D. Camp Community College currently maintains active emergency notification protocols. In the event of an emergency, alerts will be issued via Camp Alert, email, voicemail, PA system, electronic bulletin boards, and media outlets. Students and staff are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to campus authorities or via emergency contact numbers.

Paul D. Camp breaks ground on new Workforce Trade and Innovation Center

Paul D. Camp Community College held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Workforce Trade and Innovation Center in Suffolk, which will provide industry credential training in maritime and infrastructure trades. The center, supported by a $1.1 million property donation, is expected to open in Spring 2025.

Camp Community College awarded Lab School; will partner with IWCS and Newport News Shipbuilding

Camp Community College was selected by the Virginia Department of Education to establish a Lab School focused on maritime trades, in partnership with Isle of Wight County Schools and Newport News Shipbuilding. The Lab School is projected to open in Fall 2025.

Severe Weather Shelter Procedures

In case of severe weather, including tornado warnings, all students and staff should proceed to designated storm shelters within permanent campus facilities. Modular building occupants must relocate to the nearest shelter. Remain in shelter until an official 'all clear' is given by college safety personnel.
